As deficit reduction talks continue, Republicans remain stalwart in their protection of Big Oil, companies that ship jobs overseas, and the wealthiest in our country—while trying to balance the budget on the backs of seniors and the middle class. Having the Senate declare that millionaires should share more of the pain involved in putting America’s financial house in order is “rather pathetic,” Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) declared Tuesday. [Huffington Post, 7/5]
So how do Republicans compensate for increasing the deficit with tax breaks for Big Oil, companies that ship jobs overseas, and millionaires? With a plan to end Medicare. (One the American people have rejected over and over again, at that)
Punishing America’s seniors and working families to reward Republicans’ special interest friends? Now that is truly pathetic.
