What Have House Republicans Done with Their 226 Days in the Majority?

Over and over again, House Republicans have proven that advancing their ideological agenda takes precedence over America’s top priority: creating jobs and growing our economy…

After 226 days in the majority, House Republicans have yet to pass a single piece of legislation to create jobs, and actually voted to destroy nearly 2 million jobs and 10 times against Democratic initiatives to create jobs. But don’t take our word for it…

Rep. Trey Gowdy (S.C.) said the GOP must put forward its own solutions on issues such as health care, job creation and mortgage assistance…

“Being the party of ‘no’ . . . is an appropriate response” in some cases, Gowdy said. “It’s not appropriate when you’ve been extensively critical of someone else’s ideas” and have none to replace them, he said.

“For substance reasons, and for credibility reasons, we also need to have a comprehensive . . . alternative that goes beyond saying, ‘Your plan is bad,’ ” Gowdy said. [8/18]

Democrats have a clear plan to put Americans back to work by advancing our Make It In America manufacturing agenda; focusing on jobs and growth on the debt commission; sending the President the long delayed highway and FAA bills, which generate hundreds of thousands of American jobs; and approving a national Infrastructure Bank to create jobs and improve our competitiveness.

It’s long past time for the House Republicans to start listening to the American people, Democrats – and even some of their own GOP Members – and focus on finding real solutions to create jobs.
