As Middle Class Faces Tax Hike, GOP ‘Chest-Thumps’

Here go House Republicans again, putting politics ahead of the middle class:

Politico – It’s Eric Cantor vs. John Boehner again on key issues

[Leader Eric] Cantor, House Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling of Texas and others in the leadership orbit want a chest-thumping moment for their party — they want to exact a political victory from Democrats in order to pass the payroll tax holiday…

The party appears to be moving closer to moving its own extension package that has no chance of passing the Senate, before negotiations begin in earnest next week, Republican sources said. [12/7]

It’s time for the GOP to come together and work with Democrats to get the job done for the American people. Congress must not leave for the holidays without extending the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits to support the middle class, grow the economy and promote jobs.
