According to a new poll out today #BoehnerStyle isn’t working for America…
More than 8 in 10 (83 percent) Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing – “an all-time high in a survey” – compared to just 12 percent who approve.
The top two reasons Americans gave for their disappointment and disapproval of Congress were partisanship and inability to get things done and the needs and challenges facing middle class Americans being ignored.
67 percent of those surveyed said Congressional Republicans are too focused on a partisan approach that does not unify the country – more than three times the number of those who said the GOP is interested in unifying the country in a bipartisan way (22 percent).
It should come as little surprise that the American people disapprove of the GOP-led Congress and its partisanship.
On CBS’ Face the Nation last Sunday, Speaker Boehner asked the American people to accept #BoehnerStyle as the new normal for Congress:
Boehner: “…we should not be judged by how many new laws we create. We ought to be judged on how many laws we repeal.”
In a recent interview, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) insulted thousands of DREAMers:
“For everyone who’s a valedictorian, there’s another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds – and they’ve got hands the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert,” King tells Newsmax.
House Republicans continue to throw red meat to their base with their dysfunction-first, repeal-only agenda, while Americans continue to wait for sound policy to strengthen middle class families and small businesses. House Democrats are ready to act to create jobs, negotiate a budget agreement, and enact comprehensive immigration reform that honors our values. It’s time to get serious.
